Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality PACU care for a primarily adult population across a broad surgical caseload, including trauma and transplant cases
• Manage ventilated patients and provide advanced ventilator support in collaboration with respiratory services
• Perform and monitor invasive hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) lines, and ICP/EVD monitoring
• Administer and monitor procedural and conscious sedation, including IV starts and sedation-related observations
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid changes in patient status
• Float between PACU areas to support a high-volume unit (120-140 cases/day) and adapt to varied surgical specialties
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, pharmacy, rapid response, PT, interpretation services) to ensure safe patient transitions

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required (must be active at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience
• Current ACLS and BLS required; PALS required
• Experience with conscious sedation IV starts and procedural sedation monitoring
• Experience with pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) lines and ventilator management (tele vents)
• Experience in or exposure to a Level I trauma facility required
• First-time travel nurses accepted; travel experience not required
• CCRN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• PACU nursing and post-anesthesia care across adult and pediatric populations
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Procedural and conscious sedation administration and monitoring
• IV starts and vascular access skills
• Invasive monitoring: A-line, PA (Swan-Ganz), EVD/ICP familiarity
• Neurological monitoring and ICP considerations (preferred)
• Familiarity with types of anesthesia and perioperative patient care
