Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist on cardiovascular and vascular cases (CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacements and more)
• Provide expert instrument handling and cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure infection control practices are followed
• Scrub and circulate as needed, managing supplies, case carts and equipment documentation
• Support Level I Trauma cases when required with calm, competent surgical assistance
• Operate and support specialized equipment (cell saver, scopes, electrosurgical units) safely
• Document procedures and patient care accurately in EPIC
• Respond professionally as part of the on-call team and support weekend coverage

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Minimum 5+ years total CST experience (HARD STOP)
• At least 2 years dedicated cardiac & vascular experience
• Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
• Minimum 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
• BLS certification required
• Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing and equipment documentation
• Comfortable charting in EPIC and working in high-acuity CVOR settings

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and infection control
• Scrub & circulate workflows in CVOR and General OR
• Cardiovascular and thoracic procedure familiarity (CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve work)
• Vascular interventions knowledge (angioplasty/stenting, atherectomy, carotid stenting)
• Trauma-informed surgical support for Level I settings
• Care of scopes and fiber optic equipment, cell saver familiarity
• Crash cart management, sharps safety, specimen handling and universal protocol
• Equipment documentation, high level disinfectant (HLD) procedures and radiationsafety/PPE basics
