Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient conditions, interpreting changes and communicating effectively with the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policy
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to develop and implement care plans
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and post-discharge needs
• Prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure continuity of safe, efficient care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license - ability to practice in Louisiana preferred
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing and comfort working 12-hour shifts
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration and documentation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced hospital settings
• Ability to pass required facility onboarding and credentialing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of med-surg patient assessment and care planning
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to triage, prioritize and respond to acute changes
• Patient education, discharge planning and care coordination
• Team collaboration and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
