Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience
• Prepare the OR: ensure sterile fields, set up instrumentation and supplies for each procedure
• Assist surgical teams during cases by anticipating needs and maintaining consistent communication
• Monitor patients’ condition intraoperatively and document care accurately in the chart
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols and surgical checklists to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons and support staff to optimize flow and outcomes
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement, process standardization and education activities

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN privileges as applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Perioperative/OR experience preferred; new grads with strong surgical clinical rotations are welcome to apply
• CNOR certification preferred but not required — employer supports credentialing
• Strong ability to work in fast-paced surgical environments and prioritize patient safety

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available; ongoing education and training encouraged

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, supplies and common procedural workflows
• Accurate clinical documentation and comfort with electronic health records
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills — you’ll coordinate with many disciplines
• Ability to anticipate clinical needs and respond calmly under pressure
