Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients with attention to safety and comfort
- Prepare children and families for procedures, providing clear, compassionate instructions
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure smooth patient flow into the OR
- Monitor and document vital signs and relevant clinical information accurately
- Advocate for patient needs and communicate changes promptly to providers
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly pre-op environment
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a perioperative team
- Ability to pass required background checks and facility onboarding/orientation
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of pre-operative assessment and pediatric perioperative care
- Skill in taking accurate vital signs and documenting clinical findings
- Competence in infection control and safe patient handling
- Ability to provide clear education to children and caregivers
- Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical setting and adapting to changing priorities
