Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor step-down unit patients, interpreting telemetry and hemodynamic data
• Provide skilled nursing care including medication administration, IV management, and intervention planning
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and recovery plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record to support continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or compact license eligible
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) highly preferred
• Experience in a step-down (SDU) or progressive care/telemetry environment preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with monitoring higher-acuity patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring
• IV therapy and medication administration with attention to safety
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems and thorough documentation
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex patients
