Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs, observe changes, and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
- Support residents with mobility and transfers while practicing safe lifting techniques
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of resident care and behavior
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver person-centered care plans
- Create a warm, respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence for every resident
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in Connecticut (state license required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to teamwork and resident-centered care
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- State-approved CNA program completion and active CNA license
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident assistance
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, infection control, and safe transfers
- Accurate documentation and charting practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of long-term care best practices and resident rights
