Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients to ensure readiness for procedures
• Prepare patients and families with clear, compassionate education and instructions
• Administer medications and assist with IV starts as ordered, following pediatric dosing and safety protocols
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient status, escalating concerns promptly
• Coordinate with surgical team and perioperative staff to streamline patient flow and safety
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation and reconcile medications
• Adhere to infection control and perioperative safety standards to protect patients

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Missouri RN licensure required or eligible
• Experience in pediatric nursing or pre-operative care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Comfortable working with children and communicating effectively with families
• Ability to complete facility-required orientation and credentialing
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
• Pre-operative nursing processes and checklist adherence
• Medication administration and pediatric dosing awareness
• IV insertion and peripheral access skills
• Strong documentation skills in electronic health records
• Team communication and coordination with surgical/perioperative teams
• Infection prevention and patient safety best practices
