Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Emergency Department
• Triage and rapidly assess patients to prioritize care based on acuity
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the chart
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and rapid changes in patient condition
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility via compact licensure
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred or attainable soon after hire
• Previous Emergency Department (ED/ER) experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting
• Current, up-to-date immunizations and any facility-required screenings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage principles and emergency nursing workflows
• IV therapy, medication administration, and basic wound care
• EKG rhythm recognition and basic cardiac monitoring
• Trauma assessment and rapid stabilization techniques
• Ability to work with electronic medical records and document clearly
• De-escalation and patient/family communication in high-stress situations
