Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgery
• Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready and sterile
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for smooth procedures
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes during the perioperative period
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and uphold infection control standards
• Accurately document patient care, intraoperative events, and handoffs in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Louisiana
• Experience in the Operating Room or perioperative nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and CNOR preferred if available
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort working in fast-paced surgical settings
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of perioperative principles, sterile technique, and OR safety protocols
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and procedure flow
• Proficiency in patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation
• Strong teamwork, situational awareness, and communication skills
• Comfort using electronic health record systems for charting and handoffs
