Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit
• Continuously monitor and assess patients’ clinical status and respond to changes
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary teams
• Document care and patient response clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans, and discharge needs
• Participate in unit initiatives to improve patient outcomes and workflows
• Support a culture of safety by following policies, reporting concerns, and mentoring colleagues

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Clinical experience in SDU, step-down, progressive care, or critical care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Post-operative and progressive care patient management
• IV medication administration and infusion pump operation
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response procedures
• Time management and ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment
