Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor patient status continuously and respond promptly to changes
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Educate and support families during stressful moments with clear, empathetic communication
• Document patient care thoroughly in the medical record and participate in shift handoffs
• Participate in orientation and precepting activities to support new staff

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license for the state of Massachusetts
• Clinical experience or specialized interest in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing
• BLS required; PALS preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented critical care environment
• Successful completion of facility orientation and competency assessments

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for pediatric critical care
• Proficiency in patient monitoring and interpreting vital signs and alarms
• Comfortable with ventilator care, hemodynamic monitoring and critical interventions
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and team members
• Ability to prioritize tasks during high-acuity situations and maintain accurate documentation
