Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for med/surg pediatric patients
- Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to policy
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and improve outcomes
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge plans and follow-up
- Document care thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record
- Participate in orientation and precepting to help grow the next generation of caregivers
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (or compact license as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing with pediatric exposure preferred
- Current immunizations and ability to clear background/health screenings
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of pediatric and med/surg nursing principles
- Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
- Comfortable using electronic health record systems for documentation
- Skilled in patient and family education and discharge planning
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment and collaborate with team members
