Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
• Continuously monitor and assess vital signs, airway and level of consciousness
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document accurately
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe recoveries
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate families on post-op care instructions and discharge planning with clarity and empathy
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient’s medical record

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state (required)
• Experience in PACU nursing and working with pediatric patients (experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; pediatric life support (PALS) preferred if available
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced perioperative environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) or equivalent nursing diploma

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with post-anesthesia recovery protocols and monitoring equipment
• Skill in pediatric assessment, pain management and airway vigilance
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration and titration
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and clinical teams
• Accurate electronic health record documentation and handoff practices
• Infection control and patient safety best practices
