Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (examples: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 36-hour guarantee (exact schedule provided by facility)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory equipment to ensure safe operation
- Assess patients’ cardiopulmonary status and collect relevant clinical information for care planning
- Deliver therapeutic procedures to support spontaneous and artificial ventilation
- Manage and maintain patient airways, including care of artificial airways and secretion clearance
- Initiate or modify respiratory care in emergency situations, including code responses when trained
- Evaluate and monitor patient responses to treatment and recommend modifications to the care plan
- Document plans, explain therapy and goals to patients, and maintain clear communication records
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex respiratory cases and provide department in-service education
- Adhere to infection control policies to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Respiratory Care License (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with NBRC (required)
- Minimum 2+ years of RRT experience with critical care (required)
- Experience in Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, and Neonatal/Pediatrics (required)
- Cerner EMR experience (required)
- Current American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (required)
- Current NRP certification (required)
- Ability to perform endotracheal intubation in adult code blue situations after facility training and competency
- Two supervisory reference forms with dates and an up-to-date skills checklist (submitted as part of application)
- Candidates must provide permanent address (facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius)
Education
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or equivalent preferred)
- NBRC certification and RRT credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation management and airway care
- Emergency respiratory care and code response
- Patient assessment and monitoring with interpretation of respiratory data
- Bronchial pulmonary secretion clearance techniques
- Infection control practices specific to respiratory care
- Equipment assembly, function checks, and troubleshooting
- Patient and family education — explaining care plans and therapy goals
- Experience across all patient populations (neonatal through adult)
