Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based cardiopulmonary treatment and diagnostic care to patients of all ages
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment and ventilators
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Assess respiratory status and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide patient and family education on therapies, breathing techniques, and discharge planning
- Accurately document patient care, clinical observations, and therapy responses
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and participate in codes as needed
- Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (NBRC-RRT) required
- Current Oregon Respiratory Care License required
- Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
- ACLS, NRP, and PALS required for PCH Respiratory Therapy assignments
- Two years clinical respiratory care experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and teamwork mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and therapies
- Experience with ventilator management and airway support
- Skilled in diagnostic testing and interpretation related to respiratory care
- Competence in patient assessment, treatment planning, and clinical documentation
- Ability to teach patients and families in clear, compassionate terms
- Comfort working across critical and non-critical care settings
