Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and accurately read ECG strips to detect rhythm changes and escalate concerns
• Perform thorough patient assessments for med/surg and telemetry patients including CHF, PNA, CKD, diabetes
• Administer and manage respiratory therapies such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen safely
• Document clinical care in Paragon with clear, timely charting
• Collaborate with telemonitor techs, PCTs, RTs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Prioritize patient safety and maintain appropriate 6:1 staffing ratios on the unit
• Provide patient and family education focused on disease management and discharge planning
• Float to other med/surg units as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (eligible to submit)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience, med/surg/telemetry experience preferred
• Comfortable and experienced with telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and meet every other weekend and holiday requirements
• Strong communication and time management skills

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BSN not required for this role
• Unit-specific orientation completed (department orientation noted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Proficient in reading ECG strips and responding to changes
• Clinical documentation using Paragon
• Patient assessment and med/surg nursing care
• Experience with respiratory support devices (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
• Teamwork, delegation, and working with PCTs and RTs
• Ability to float between med/surg units and adapt quickly
