Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity telemetry nursing care for a 30-bed Med Tele unit, managing complex patients with skill and compassion
• Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry/EKG strips and escalate changes in rhythm or patient condition promptly
• Perform IV insertions and manage IV access; collaborate with SWAT RN for difficult sticks
• Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes and complete SIMs Lab competencies
• Document timely, accurate patient care in the Cerner EMR and communicate care plans clearly to the care team
• Support patient mobility and safety: assist with lifts, restraints and transfers per facility policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT and Pharmacy (available 24/7) to optimize patient outcomes
• Contribute to unit operations by working with charge nurses and mentoring PCTs to maintain efficient, safe care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona or eligible to submit (license to submit accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care/telemetry nursing experience
• Must have strong IV insertion experience (this is required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven ability to interpret EKGs and work with Phillips telemetry monitors
• Experience charting in Cerner EMR
• Willingness to float to MedSurg/Tele as needed and work 1:4 patient ratios
• Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting the assignment (two attempts allowed) and pass Day 1 SIMs Lab competencies
• Travel team requirements: own reliable vehicle; facility-specific appearance/fit-test rules (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG rhythm recognition
• IV therapy and vascular access management
• Sterile technique for line care and Foley insertion
• High-acuity patient assessment and critical thinking
• Cerner EMR charting and documentation best practices
• BiPAP/CPAP familiarity and basic ventilatory support recognition
• Wound care principles and safe patient lifting/transfers
• Experience caring for ESRD, DKA and pre-liver transplant patients
