Shift Type: Primarily Days, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM; rotating weekends and holidays; on-call rotation with one night every 2 weeks and one weekend every 6 weeks; schedule options include 4x10s or 3x12s. (Primarily day shift with occasional night call/rotating coverage.)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the cardiovascular surgical team during open heart procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and sterile fields for a busy, multi-specialty OR
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures to keep cases running smoothly
• Document intraoperative activity and patient information accurately in EPIC
• Respond promptly and professionally to on-call duties and emergent cases
• Cross-cover a variety of surgical cases including medical and orthopedic procedures when needed
• Complete required competency checklists, specialty exams, and skills assessments
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital licensing requirements

Qualifications

• Open heart/CVOR surgical experience required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience in a busy OR department
• EPIC experience is required—comfortable with intraoperative charting and documentation
• Current BLS certification
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Active surgical technician certification/license with verification required
• Willingness to take call (one night every 2 weeks; one weekend every 6 weeks)
• Must pass drug screen, TB testing, required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, influenza), fit testing, and other pre-employment health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR workflows
• Familiarity with cardiac surgery instrumentation and procedures
• Proficient EPIC documentation and perioperative charting skills
• Ability to handle extended case hours and adapt to variable case loads
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-pressure environments
• Strong prioritization and multitasking skills in the operating room
• Comfortable working rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
