Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care across ICU, med-surg and telemetry units, following Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced ventilator settings using Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1 and Galileo systems
• Perform and interpret ABGs, EKGs and other diagnostic testing to inform patient care
• Deliver and titrate noninvasive ventilation (NIV), high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), IPV and PEP/PAP therapies
• Assess patients, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with hospitalists and multidisciplinary teams
• Document all care and assessments accurately in Cerner and support continuity of care during shift handoffs
• Float to different areas as needed (all areas except NICU) and provide mentorship when serving as charge RT
• Support emergency responses and adhere to ACLS/BLS/NRP/PALS protocols when required

Qualifications

• RRT licensure required for California (facility will not accept CRT)
• 2-5 years of critical care experience required; must have travel experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NRP and PALS required; NPS required if working in NICU
• Demonstrated competency with ventilator management and respiratory therapy driven protocols
• Experience charting in Cerner or similar EMR
• Comfort working in a 24/7 RT coverage model with assigned weekends and holiday coverage
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and team communication skills
• Ability to complete a 2-day floor-specific orientation and adapt to floating across units

Education

• RRT licensure required (California)

• ABG analysis and interpretation
• Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy
• IPV, PEP/PAP therapy and aerosol/bronchodilator administration
• EKG monitoring and familiarity with GE telemetry systems
• Charting and documentation in Cerner
• Critical care practices for COPD, asthma, pneumonia and CHF patients
