Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform adult cardiac surgical procedures, including CABG, off-pump CABG, arterial revascularization, and redo coronary revascularization
• Provide operative care in CV operating rooms and collaborate closely with PA and OR teams to ensure smooth case flow
• Manage perioperative care and hospital-based rounding for cardiac surgery patients
• Perform additional procedures such as pericardial window when clinically indicated
• Participate in call rotation and provide urgent surgical coverage for Level II trauma at the City Division as required
• Coordinate care with CTICU intensivists, nurse practitioners, and other multidisciplinary team members
• Document clinical encounters and operative notes using PowerChart (Cerner) for accurate medical record keeping
• Contribute to a culture of safety, quality improvement, and excellent patient experience

Qualifications

• Cardiothoracic Surgery Board Certification required
• Fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery required
• Active and unrestricted New Jersey medical license
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Proven operating room experience, including cardiovascular OR exposure
• Experience with adult cardiac surgery procedures including CABG and revascularization techniques
• Comfortable working in Level II trauma hospital setting
• Familiarity with electronic health records, specifically PowerChart (Cerner)

Education

• Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Cardiothoracic Surgery Board Certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong technical expertise in adult cardiac surgery and complex coronary revascularization
• Proficiency with off-pump CABG techniques and arterial grafting strategies
• Ability to manage perioperative and postoperative cardiac surgical patients effectively
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary hospital environment including CTICU collaboration
• Competence using PowerChart (Cerner) for documentation and order entry
• Skilled at mentoring and working with PA and NP staff in the OR and clinical setting
• Good judgment in trauma and urgent cardiac scenarios at a Level II facility
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate patient-centered care
