Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry for a 37-bed cardiac telemetry unit, ensuring timely identification of rhythm changes
• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care on night shift and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Float to Medical-Surgical and Orthopedics units as needed while maintaining continuity of care
• Implement ACLS and BLS protocols when clinical situations require rapid response
• Complete accurate documentation and handoffs to support patient safety and continuity
• Perform thorough patient assessments, administer medications, and manage IV therapies per facility policies
• Participate in required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys registration required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed
• Ability and willingness to float to Medical-Surgical and Orthopedics units
• Comfort and clinical competence caring for telemetry patients and recognizing cardiac rhythms
• Required pre-employment screenings and health requirements completeable (drug screen, TB, immunizations)

Education

• Nursing diploma/Associate/Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ADN/BSN) as required for RN licensure in Illinois
• RN licensure active in good standing (Nursys verification)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven telemetry monitoring skills and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Strong assessment skills for medically complex patients
• Familiarity with telemetry floor workflows and unit ratios (typical ratios listed 1:5–1:6)
• Effective communication and teamwork with physicians, unit staff, and ancillary services
• Competence with hospital documentation systems and charting standards
• Ability to stay calm and act decisively during emergencies using ACLS algorithms
