Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adults in a 33-bed ICU (average daily census ~16)
• Manage nurse:patient ratios typically 1:2-3, adjusting care for acuity and census
• Titrate IV drips and manage common cardiac, insulin, and sedation infusions safely
• Interpret telemetry/ECG strips and document findings using GE monitor systems
• Troubleshoot ventilators and provide respiratory support from nasal cannula to ventilator troubleshooting
• Care for a wide variety of diagnoses including trauma, cardiac issues, stroke, sepsis, renal and heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Collaborate with RTs, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate documentation, follow unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy), and complete required orientation tasks

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Demonstrated ICU/critical care experience with ability to titrate drips and manage complex patients
• Comfortable reading/interpreting telemetry and troubleshooting ventilator/respiratory equipment
• Ability to pass a pass/fail orientation exam with a 90% score (open-book; resources provided) — failure may result in contract termination
• Willingness to float occasionally to PCU/MedSurg and take assigned ratios on those units
• Ability to meet holiday and weekend coverage requirements and adhere to RTO limits

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing and critical care principles
• IV medication titration and infusion pump management
• Telemetry/ECG interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Ventilator support troubleshooting and basic respiratory equipment familiarity (CPAP/BiPAP/high flow)
• Trauma, stroke, and cardiac case management
• Sepsis management, renal and heart failure care
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Familiarity with GE monitoring systems and working with tele tech oversight
