Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor ED nursing staff, guiding safe, efficient patient care and fostering teamwork
• Oversee triage and fast-track workflows to optimize patient flow and throughput
• Coordinate resuscitation and acute care efforts for trauma-like, stroke, and STEMI patients
• Serve as the charge/shift leader when assigned, handling assignments, staffing decisions, and unit coordination
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and ancillary departments to troubleshoot ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow issues
• Ensure accurate ECG/telemetry interpretation and rapid activation of STEMI/stroke protocols
• Perform or supervise RN phlebotomy and ensure timely lab collections and results communication
• Maintain documentation, adherence to protocols, and unit safety standards while supporting quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Kansas (must be able to be in-state for orientation)
• Minimum 4 years of nursing experience with prior Emergency Department leadership/management experience (MUST HAVE ED leadership experience)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Comfortable with 12-hour shift scheduling and charge nurse responsibilities
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet the 60-mile radius requirement (driver's license must be submitted)
• Strong clinical judgment in acute care, triage, and resuscitation scenarios

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ED triage, fast-track operations, and patient flow optimization
• Skilled in STEMI and stroke recognition and activation protocols
• ECG/telemetry interpretation and familiarity with common ED drips/medications
• Experience troubleshooting respiratory equipment (ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow) and collaborating with RT
• Phlebotomy experience (RNs draw labs in this facility)
• Ability to manage staffing ratios and acuity-based assignments (typical ratios 1:4-5)
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and team leadership skills
