Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and operate a variety of mechanical ventilators (Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo) to deliver safe, evidence-based respiratory support
• Perform and interpret ABGs and titrate therapies such as NIV, HFNC, IPV, and PEP/PAP to optimize patient breathing
• Deliver skilled respiratory care across ICU and med-surg/tele areas, including breathing treatments, EKGs, and emergency respiratory interventions
• Follow and apply respiratory therapy-driven protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists and pharmacy to coordinate 24/7 respiratory services
• Float to multiple clinical areas (excluding NICU unless NPS credentialed) while maintaining unit-specific standards
• Support unit functioning as needed, with Charge RT coverage in a 24/7 operation

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — required (California will not accept CRT)
• 2-5 years of recent critical care respiratory therapy experience (must have travel experience)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NRP and PALS required (NPS required if working in NICU)
• Proven experience with ventilator management, ABGs, NIV, HFNC and protocol-driven care
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and GE telemetry systems
• Ability to work every-other-weekend rotation and most holidays; flexible and team-oriented

Education

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — required by California (CRT not accepted)
• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and advanced ventilator modes
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpretation
• Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• IPV and PEP/PAP therapy
• Experience with Cerner EMR and GE telemetry
• Critical care practices and protocol-driven respiratory therapy
• Familiarity with ICU-level diagnoses: COPD, asthma, pneumonia, CHF
• Ability to float across med-surg/tele and ICU environments
