Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely during night shift hours
• Perform nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and escalate concerns promptly
• Document patient care and clinical findings thoroughly in the electronic health record
• Collaborate closely with security staff and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Participate in required training and orientation during the initial 2-week training period
• Support continuity of care through effective handoffs and clear communication with day-shift staff

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California license preferred/required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and other certifications a plus
• Experience in medical/somatic nursing; correctional healthcare experience is a strong plus
• Ability to work nights: Monday through Friday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
• Available for a 2-week training period with no time off during training
• Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and required health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and successful NCLEX-RN

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Safe medication administration and documentation practices
• Familiarity with infection control and correctional healthcare protocols
• Effective communication and de-escalation skills in a secure environment
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting care
• Good critical thinking and prioritization under night-shift conditions
