Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment following established protocols
• Operate and monitor Sterad and Steris 1 sterilization systems to ensure effective instrument processing
• Run and verify washer disinfection and steam disinfection cycles, documenting results accurately
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, and prepare clean packaging for sterilization
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory
• Collaborate with surgical teams and SPD colleagues to prioritize instrument needs and ensure timely turnaround
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards and participate in continuous quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD (required)
• Proficiency operating Sterad and Steris 1, as well as washer and steam disinfection equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of sterile processing principles, decontamination and clean packaging
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow protocols, and reliable documentation skills
• Comfort working as part of a fast-paced sterile processing team

Education

• IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification required
