Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), schedule posted 4 weeks in advance, includes nights and weekends (4 weekend shifts per pay period); some floating to PCU/MST/EC ICU as needed

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to CVICU, MS ICU and PCU patients using evidence-based practice
• Assess and interpret EKGs and dysrhythmias and act promptly to stabilize patients
• Manage ventilators: troubleshoot, assist with weaning and collaborate with RTs
• Titrate and administer critical care drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, anticoagulants) safely and accurately
• Care for post-operative open heart patients including chest tubes, arterial lines and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Perform manual proning for COVID/ARDS patients when indicated
• Respond to rapid responses and code blues as part of unit emergency response
• Float between ICUs, PCU and related units as staffing needs dictate while maintaining continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current, active RN (Registered Nurse) license for practice in the assignment state
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong EKG reading and dysrhythmia interpretation skills (must pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract)
• Demonstrated ICU/critical care experience with ventilator management and drip titration
• Experience with arterial lines, chest tubes and hemodynamic monitoring; Swan-Ganz experience a plus
• Preferred: IABP and Prismaflex CRRT experience (highly desired)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and float across units
• Must meet Radius Rule: not employed full-time/part-time/PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing fundamentals and critical care workflows
• EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation and rapid clinical decision-making
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting, including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC and Vapotherm
• Hemodynamic monitoring, ABG interpretation and telemetry monitoring (Nihon Khoden)
• Familiarity with manual proning techniques and post-op cardiac care
• Experience with advanced devices: IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR and CRRT
• Ability to titrate drips safely and document interventions thoroughly
