Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including Days 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Mids with varied starts approximately 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM; Nights with varied starts approximately 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Every-other-weekend requirement and holiday rotation; self-scheduling by seniority; shifts posted at least two weeks in advance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver rapid, high-quality emergency and critical care across trauma, stroke, pediatric and psychiatric presentations
• Continuously monitor telemetry, recognize dysrhythmias and act decisively to stabilize patients
• Manage ventilators and collaborate with RTs to support respiratory needs
• Coordinate care closely with hospitalists and intensivists who are on-site 24/7
• Lead and support the team when functioning as charge nurse (charge does not take patient assignment)
• Perform efficient triage and patient flow in a 28-bed high-volume ER with fast-track and trauma bays
• Work alongside EMT nurse aides and midshift EMTs to ensure safe delegation and workflow
• Contribute to a culture of teamwork and help lead initiatives to improve unit cohesion and outcomes

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty (high-volume, high-acuity ER experience required)
• Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications (TNCC preferred)
• Experience with Cerner EMR and telemetry monitoring
• Competence in ventilator management and trauma care; Level II trauma experience or higher preferred
• Comfort working 12-hour shifts, every-other-weekend schedule and holiday rotation
• Travel experience preferred (some travelers may be eligible to take trauma patients depending on experience)

Knowledge & Skills

• ACLS, BLS, PALS certification knowledge
• Dysrhythmia recognition and telemetry monitoring expertise
• Ventilator management and critical care nursing skills
• Emergency nursing practices for trauma, stroke, pediatrics and psychiatric patients
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, high-acuity environment
• Charge nurse experience and team leadership capabilities
