Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and process surgical instruments and equipment following established sterilization protocols
• Prepare, pack, and sterilize instrument sets and vendor trays with accuracy and efficiency
• Assemble and pick case carts to ensure the OR has the right sets for each procedure
• Manage sterile storage and case cart workflows to maintain traceability and readiness
• Process specialty instrument sets including orthopedics, spine, DaVinci XI, ENT, and urology
• Float within the Sterile Processing Department across Decontam, Prep & Pack, and Sterile Stores as needed
• Demonstrate and maintain competency through department-specific orientation and periodic reviews
• Communicate effectively with OR staff and unit partners to support patient care and timely turnarounds

Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPDT certification required
• Minimum one year of Sterile Processing (SPD) experience preferred
• Driver's license (DL) required and must be submitted per radius requirement
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, hardworking mindset — able to work under call and time-sensitive conditions
• Ability to don full surgical attire and follow hospital dress code (blue hospital-provided scrubs)
• Willingness to complete and pass unit-specific orientation and competency demonstrations
• Able to respond to on-call requests within 30 minutes

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument sterilization and decontamination processes
• Prep & pack procedures and sterile storage management
• Case cart assembly and inventory control
• Processing vendor trays and specialty instrument handling
• Familiarity with orthopedic, spine, ENT, urology, and DaVinci XI instrument sets
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork in a fast-paced OR support environment
• Basic understanding of sterilization standards, documentation, and infection prevention
