Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular patients in the CVOR
• Assist the surgical team during complex CVOR procedures and maintain sterile field
• Continuously monitor patients’ hemodynamic status and respond to changes
• Administer medications and interventions per physician orders and unit protocols
• Accurately document patient care and surgical events in Cerner
• Complete required pre-assignment modules prior to start to ensure competency
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, efficient care
• Float to other units as needed to support patient care when CV cases are limited

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (per job posting)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (current)
• Experience in CVOR or operating room nursing strongly preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner electronic charting
• Willingness to complete mandatory modules and orientation prior to start
• Ability to float to other units when CV cases are not available

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma acceptable; BSN not required
• Active RN license in California

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular OR procedures and sterile technique
• Proficiency with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Strong patient monitoring and hemodynamic assessment skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm during emergencies
• Familiarity with perioperative protocols, instrument handling, and OR workflow
