Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate patient care while floating between medical, surgical, and occasional cardiovascular units
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, including post-op and acute medical cases
• Manage specialized equipment and procedures such as wound VACs and chest tubes
• Safely administer medications and document care using Meditech EMR and Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes and smooth unit transitions
• Participate fully in unit orientation and ongoing training to maintain competence across assigned areas
• Maintain professional nursing attire and model standards of care on every shift

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (must apply upon offer if not currently active)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• 2-10 years of nursing experience, ideally with medical-surgical and float pool experience
• Documented proof of immunity required; medical and religious exemptions will not be accepted
• Comfort and experience floating to multiple units including Medical, Laulima (surgical acute), and occasional Cardiovascular assignments
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound VACs and chest tube care

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and acute care skills
• Ability to adapt quickly as a float RN across varied units
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
• Medication administration workflows using Pyxis
• Hands-on skills for wound VAC management and chest tube care
• Strong assessment, triage and communication abilities
• Comfort working 12-hour day shifts and managing typical nurse-to-patient ratios
