Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity trauma and surgical nursing care for spinal, neuro and trauma patients with compassion and precision
• Perform thorough nurse handoffs with ED and admitting to ensure continuity of care
• Use EPIC for accurate, timely documentation and care coordination
• Safely manage assigned patient loads (typical ratio noted as 5:1) while prioritizing patient safety
• Collaborate with support techs, phlebotomists and unit staff to deliver coordinated care
• Respond rapidly and effectively to trauma events, spinal cord injuries, gunshot wounds and other high-acuity situations
• Coach and support unit staff, contributing to a positive learning environment and strong teamwork
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Georgia (required)
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• EPIC experience required — confident electronic charting and documentation
• Minimum 2 years of experience in trauma/surgical/spinal/neuro or other high-acuity specialty
• Proven ability to work rotating shifts (days and nights) and handle high-acuity caseloads
• Strong communication skills for effective nurse handoffs and interdisciplinary collaboration

• Trauma nursing principles and rapid assessment skills
• Surgical and post-operative patient care
• Spinal and neuro patient needs including paraplegic/quadriplegic care
• High-acuity monitoring and prioritization
• Effective nurse handoff techniques and interdisciplinary communication
• EPIC proficiency for documentation and order management
• Familiarity with working alongside phlebotomists, unit secretaries and support techs
