Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Provide safe transfer and mobility assistance, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Take and record basic vital signs and other routine observations accurately
• Support mealtime assistance and hydration, following dietary guidelines and preferences
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Document care and interventions clearly and timely in resident records
• Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care and enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification required (Geriatric Nursing Assistant)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or obtained upon hire if required by facility
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings

Education

• GNA certificate or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Ability to observe and accurately report changes in resident status
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with ADLs, feeding assistance
• Good documentation practices and attention to detail
• Teamwork mindset and effective interpersonal skills with residents and families
