Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care: assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Take and document vital signs accurately and communicate changes to the nursing team
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention efforts while encouraging resident independence
• Assist with feeding and hydration, monitoring intake and reporting concerns
• Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control procedures
• Document care in resident records and ensure accurate handoffs during shift changes
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and other team members to deliver person-centered care
• Advocate for residents' needs and contribute to a positive, respectful atmosphere

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required (active in Connecticut)
• CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work an assigned schedule including weekends/holidays as needed
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but new grads welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; active CNA certification (CT) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and ADL support
• Vital signs measurement and basic clinical observations
• Infection prevention and safe patient handling
• Effective verbal and written communication with residents and team
• Basic charting and documentation practices
• Teamwork and collaborative problem solving
• Time management and prioritization during busy shifts
• Respect for resident dignity, privacy and cultural preferences
