Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on patient care including assistance with activities of daily living
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff promptly
• Assist with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning to promote comfort and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate findings to the care team
• Support infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe patient environment
• Document care activities thoroughly and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
• Current state-required immunizations and TB screening as per facility policy
• Basic life support (BLS) preferred or required depending on facility
• Dependable, compassionate, and able to work independently on night shifts
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Previous long-term care or acute care experience helpful but not required for some per-diem roles

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved CNA training program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Accurate vital sign measurement and basic patient observation skills
• Familiarity with infection prevention, standard precautions, and safety protocols
• Good documentation practices and basic charting skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time on a busy shift, and stay calm under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills to support patients and families with empathy
