Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed PT, delivering meaningful, measurable patient progress
- Assist with gait training, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and functional mobility to help patients regain independence
- Document patient care and progress accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with PTs, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute patient-centered care plans
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safe transfers, and injury prevention to empower recovery
- Maintain equipment, uphold safety standards, and contribute to a clean therapeutic environment
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care
Qualifications
- Current California PTA license in good standing (required)
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Comfort with documentation in electronic medical records
- Travel or contract experience is a plus but not required
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of therapeutic modalities, gait training, and adaptive equipment
- Skill in delivering therapeutic exercise programs and functional mobility training
- Proficiency with patient assessment and measuring progress toward goals
- Comfort lifting and assisting patients safely using proper body mechanics
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize patient caseloads
- Team-oriented approach and clear communication with interdisciplinary colleagues
