Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OTR to help people regain independence
• Assist with evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation to ensure quality, measurable outcomes
• Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques tailored to each patient’s goals
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers to coordinate care and maximize progress
• Monitor and document patient response to treatment, adjusting plans and communicating changes promptly
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies to support long-term success

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current or eligible for California state licensure or registration as required by facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred
• Comfortable documenting in electronic medical records and following facility protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to engage patients and families
• Previous experience in outpatient, acute care, or rehab settings preferred but motivated new grads are welcome to apply

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent accredited program (or evolving to meet facility requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and activity analysis
• Skilled in patient assessment, goal setting, and outcome measurement
• Proficient with clinical documentation and care coordination
• Ability to modify treatment plans based on patient progress and safety considerations
• Good problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills
