Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OT, helping residents regain independence and confidence
- Perform evaluations and document progress to ensure individualized, goal-oriented care plans
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab staff, and families to coordinate patient-centered treatment
- Lead therapeutic activities that promote functional recovery and safe daily living skills
- Monitor resident response to interventions and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with facility, state, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) in good standing
- Eligible for or holding Montana state licensure/registration as required
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
- Clear background check and up-to-date immunizations or TB screening per facility policy
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of restorative and compensatory approaches for ADLs
- Ability to implement therapeutic activities tailored to geriatric and post-acute populations
- Skilled in documentation, care planning, and outcome tracking
- Good problem solving and clinical reasoning skills
- Comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary rehab team
