Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate occupational therapy assistance to veterans under the supervision of an OT
- Implement treatment plans and document patient progress clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize resident outcomes
- Educate residents and families on adaptive techniques and equipment use to improve daily living
- Assist in therapeutic activities that promote independence, mobility, and safety
- Contribute to a positive, veteran-centered environment through professional communication and teamwork
Qualifications
- Active COTA certification (required)
- Montana state licensure or eligible to obtain Montana licensure (please confirm state requirements)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Clean background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by the facility
- Comfort working with veteran populations and a collaborative care team
- Strong documentation skills and basic computer literacy for electronic charting
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of occupational therapy modalities and adaptive equipment
- Skill in assisting with ADL training, transfers, and therapeutic activities
- Ability to follow and implement OT treatment plans under an OT's supervision
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and clear written/verbal communication
- Comfortable working in long-term care or skilled nursing environments
