Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist on complex cardiac, vascular and thoracic cases including CABG, valves, TAVR and ECMO
• Perform sterile technique and operating room setup consistent with CVOR protocols
• Serve as circulating nurse backup when required and assist anesthesia at case start
• Hold and assist with cardiac procedures as needed, ensuring patient and team safety
• Document perioperative care accurately in Meditech EMR and communicate handoffs clearly
• Provide level 2 trauma coverage when vascular and thoracic emergencies arise

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent OR technologist credential (CST/ORT)
• Minimum 2 years experience scrubbing or circulating in cardiac, vascular or thoracic cases
• Demonstrated ability to scrub cardiac and vascular cases and perform open heart procedures
• Punctual and able to meet a 30-minute callback requirement
• Flexible schedule and willingness to participate in on-call rotations (one weekend/month)
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Comfort working in a small, tight-knit team environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced scrub techniques for cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery
• Familiarity with CVOR equipment and open heart procedural workflows
• Meditech EMR documentation and perioperative charting
• Strong communication and teamwork in high-acuity operating room settings
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly during Level 2 trauma cases
