Shift Type: 12.5-hour shifts (specific start/end times and work days not provided)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to step-down (SDU) patients
Continuously monitor and assess patient status, with timely interventions
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and safely
Document patient care and clinical changes clearly in the medical record
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
Respond to clinical emergencies and escalate care as needed
Coach and educate patients and families about care plans and discharge needs

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana (or valid compact RN license)
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
Experience in Step-Down Unit (SDU) or progressive/acute care nursing preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry monitoring and recognition of cardiac/respiratory changes
Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy
Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
Comfortable working within electronic health record systems
Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
