Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment for a variety of pediatric procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth case flow
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes promptly to the care team
• Educate patients and families as appropriate about perioperative processes and post-op expectations
• Participate actively in orientation and unit-based competency development

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible for Ohio licensure or compact RN license)
• Experience or strong interest in Operating Room nursing and care of pediatric patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ACLS preferred
• CNOR certification preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced surgical environments
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to meet facility credentialing requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of perioperative orientation/competency program (facility-provided)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Pediatric patient assessment and family-centered care
• Instrument and equipment familiarity common to pediatric OR cases
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow established protocols and maintain meticulous documentation
