Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence based nursing care to pediatric med/surg patients
• Assess patient status, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes promptly and professionally
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to create and update individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely while documenting accurately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans in a clear, caring way
• Participate in unit orientation and mentor new staff when appropriate
• Maintain compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards while advocating for patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license or eligibility; California licensure preferred
• Experience or comfort working in med/surg and pediatric patient populations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team and adapt to a fast paced clinical setting
• Professional attitude, reliability, and commitment to patient centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid med/surg clinical knowledge with pediatric care considerations
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Patient assessment, documentation, and care planning expertise
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and standard clinical workflows
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond effectively in urgent situations
• Comfortable educating patients and families with empathy and clarity
