Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess patient condition and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and timely
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and professionally
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts (MA) or ability to obtain prior to start
• Clinical experience or competency in Med/Surg nursing and comfort working with pediatric patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; pediatric life support (PALS) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Comfort working in fast-paced acute care settings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Professional communication skills and commitment to compassionate patient- and family-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Relevant certifications (BLS required; PALS preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and pediatric considerations
• Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and clinical decision-making
• Familiarity with common pediatric medications and dosing considerations
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively to changing patient needs
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient/family education skills
