Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to prepare and execute surgical cases
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure the OR environment meets safety and infection-control standards
• Monitor patient status, document care, and communicate changes clearly to the team and family
• Participate in orientation and training to become familiar with facility protocols and pediatric-specific equipment
• Support family-centered care by answering questions and helping put caregivers at ease during the perioperative process

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Ohio or eligibility to obtain one promptly
• Experience or strong interest in Operating Room nursing with pediatrics focus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail when documenting and handing off care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate care
• Familiarity with OR equipment, safety checks, and surgical instrumentation
• Effective teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Basic EMR documentation skills and clinical charting
