Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for surgical patients
• Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments, maintaining strict aseptic technique
• Assist the surgical team during procedures and anticipate needs in the moment
• Monitor and document patient status before, during, and after surgery
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff for seamless care
• Educate patients and families about perioperative expectations and recovery
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with policies

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN licensure
• Perioperative/Operating Room experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and specialty certifications a plus
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and prioritizing tasks
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with surgical instruments, sutures, and sterile processing
• Proficient in perioperative patient assessment and monitoring
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage OR workflows
• Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation skills
• Strong infection control and patient safety practices
• Conflict resolution and effective interdisciplinary communication
