Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to step-down unit patients
• Perform ongoing patient assessment and intervene appropriately for changing conditions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and discharge needs
• Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic medical record
• Support unit initiatives to improve patient outcomes and workflow efficiency

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license in Louisiana (or eligibility per state guidelines)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Previous experience in a step-down unit, telemetry, or critical care setting preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Advanced patient assessment and early detection of clinical deterioration
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and handoff skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize care in a fast-paced environment
