Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night coverage); schedule may include weekends and both day and night shifts as needed

Candidate Pay Rate: $84 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and implement the nursing process for patients of all ages
- Provide advanced airway management and assist with intubations and emergency procedures
- Administer medications accurately and safely while monitoring patient responses
- Operate and monitor medical equipment including defibrillators, monitors and ventilators
- Document assessments, interventions and patient responses thoroughly and clearly
- Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe transitions
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNA/Tech staff while maintaining accountability for patient care
- Promote infection control practices and patient safety across the unit
- Deliver patient and family education to support discharge planning and recovery
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergent situations, prioritizing patient needs
Qualifications
- Valid, current, full and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska (required)
- BLS required upon hire; PALS required upon hire
- ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire date
- TNCC/ATCN and NRP certifications as applicable to specialty (preferred/obtainable within 6 months)
- Ability to submit 2 fingerprint cards upon acceptance and documentation of required immunizations (flu vaccination required)
- One year of clinical nursing experience preferred; prior ED specialty experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, ability to work independently during a shift, and effective communication skills
Education
- Education sufficient to obtain a valid, current, full and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska (e.g., ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment across the lifespan (pediatric, adult, geriatric)
- Nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
- Medication administration and knowledge of common side effects
- Airway management and emergency response skills
- Familiarity with monitoring/operation of defibrillators, monitors and ventilators
- Accurate documentation and electronic charting skills
- Infection control practices and patient safety principles
- Ability to educate patients and families and provide supportive counseling
- Leadership in delegation and supervision of support staff
