Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for Progressive Care and telemetry patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry strip reading to detect and escalate changes in patient status
• Administer medications and manage fingerstick blood sugar monitoring using unit systems like Pyxis
• Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate plan-of-care with the interdisciplinary team
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory support such as BiPAP as required by patient needs
• Float to other acute in-house units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) when needed to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in unit-based teamwork to maintain patient safety, quality outcomes, and a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Hawaii required by start of assignment
• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Experience in Progressive Care and telemetry monitoring preferred
• ACLS preferred; current PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
• Comfortable with floating to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER)
• Professional dress code: scrubs

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (Hawaii) — obtain by start of assignment

Knowledge & Skills

• Continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation
• Primary nursing care in acute and progressive care settings
• Meditech electronic charting experience
• Medication dispensing systems such as Pyxis
• Experience with BiPAP and basic respiratory support
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and adapt to varied unit needs
